What better to represent the earth than a woman. Women are sensual creatures and the source of life on this planet. Life, and a healthy life at that, requires care and dedication. We are living in a time where the climate of the earth has never been a more pressing issue. In order to help the earth and nurture the climate to a place where there is stability and growth, in order for the earth to thrive, the people of the earth need to decide collectively what our values will be.
She then shifts. She’s connecting to the earth. She’s finding her way and she’s on a journey to the beautiful future she has set out to become.
This editorial shows a young mother earth from cocoon, to butterfly; from winter to summer. She begins in a child-like state. Adorned in sustainable knitwear, she lifts herself up into the world from the womb. Moving from a place of comfort into the unknown.
At last she reaches paradise. Her final evolution into Mother Earth. A butterfly with is wings spread in a beautiful display for all to see and be inspired by.
All of the designers featured in this editorial are sustainable, independent and upcoming designers in London.
Naive Knitwear uses second hand materials to reimagine clothing into anarchic versions of themselves.
Receba.bc is a crotchet project founded to fundraise for a Congolese war refugee in order to gain access to a passport.
Ms Maskie is a young headwear designer creating handmade preloved/preneglected knitwear.
Francesca Palumbo is a knitwear designer creating sustainable knitwear garments inspired by the natural form of the female body.
These same values were at every step of the creative process for this editorial and each decision and person involved in it’s conception and production held these values in mind. This editorial was produced by an entirely young, female team of London creatives who love the earth and want to see a beautiful future for all of us as a collective.
